2025 Scratch Coding Competition — Rules & Regulations
Competition Overview
The 2025 RoboCode Scratch Coding Competition is an individual-based challenge. This competition is built on the Scratch programming platform and evaluates participants' understanding of various game programming concepts through randomized multiple-choice questions. Participants will complete the challenge using an online platform developed by RoboCode Academy (hereafter referred to as "the Academy"). Upon completion, each participant will receive a detailed performance analysis report highlighting their strengths and areas for improvement in computational thinking.
General Provisions
- Submission of the registration form signifies that the participant fully understands and agrees to all contents of this competition regulation and will comply strictly.
- All rules, competition updates, requirements, and announcements will be published solely on the Academy's official Facebook page without further notice.
- Any such announcements published on the Academy’s Facebook page form part of the competition rules.
- To avoid administrative errors, participants are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all submitted information in accordance with competition requirements.
- The Academy does not verify the eligibility of each applicant and bears no responsibility for such.
- Any participant found to be ineligible, failing to meet requirements, or violating the rules may be disqualified without prior notice and without refund.
Eligibility
- Eligibility Criteria:
○ Open to students aged 8 to 13, currently studying Primary 2 to Secondary 1 (or equivalent level)
○ Must have previously enrolled in a Scratch, mBot Robotics, or Minecraft Modding course at the Academy - Competition Categories:
○ Junior Division: Primary 2 to Primary 4 (or equivalent)
○ Senior Division: Primary 5 to Secondary 1 (or equivalent) - Each student is allowed to participate once only.
Registration Details
- Registration Period: May 23, 2025 (Friday) to June 20, 2025 (Friday)
- Registration must be completed by 11:59 PM on the closing date.
- Registration Fee: HK$100 (Limited-Time Offer)
- The English name submitted will be used for certificates and trophies. Any post-issuance changes will incur administrative charges.
- All participants must register via the online form.
- Late applications will not be accepted.
- Each time slot is limited to 4 participants, and spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis based on the submission timestamp of the registration form.
Competition Schedule & Format
- Competition Dates: June 23, 2025 (Monday) to July 11, 2025 (Friday)
- Session Duration: 90 minutes total
○ Check-in: 15 minutes
○ Briefing: 15 minutes
○ Answering Time: 60 minutes
○ Number of Questions: 45 in total
○ Randomized question formats: including but not limited to multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, true/false, and drag-and-drop ordering questions - Late arrival beyond the check-in period will result in automatic disqualification. No rescheduling or refunds will be arranged.
- Participants must indicate 3 available time slots via the online form for scheduling purposes. Allocation will be on a first-come, first-served basis. If the first choice is full, the next available option will be assigned.

- 14:30 – 16:00
- 16:00 – 17:30
- 17:30 – 19:00
○ Saturday:
- 09:45 – 11:15
- 11:30 – 13:00
- 13:30 – 15:00
- 15:15 – 16:45
- 17:00 – 18:30
○ Sunday:
- 09:30 – 11:00
- 11:15 – 12:45
- 13:15 – 14:45
- 15:00 – 16:30
- 16:45 – 18:15 - Location: RoboCode Academy – Kowloon Bay Main Campus
- Equipment: iPad will be provided by the Academy; no personal devices required
Competition Rules
- Participants must comply with all competition rules, including but not limited to:
○ No cheating, plagiarism, or use of unauthorized materials
○ No disruption of other participants or the competition process
○ No communication with other participants during the session - Any participant found violating the rules may be disqualified without refund.
- The Academy will assist with platform login and provide basic technical support.
Awards
- Each category will include Champion, First Runner-up, Second Runner-up, and Merit Awards.
- Awards are determined based on total scores in descending order.
- In the event of a tie, all tied participants will receive the same award level.
- The Academy reserves the right to adjust the number or type of awards.
- All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation and a Performance Report. Winners will receive additional certificates or prizes.
Terms and Conditions
- In the event of cancellation or changes to the competition, the Academy will notify participants accordingly.
- The Academy reserves full discretion to arrange all dates, times, and venues of the competition; objections will not be accepted.
- The Academy reserves the right to cancel any session and notify affected participants.
- The Academy reserves the right to adjust or modify any part of the competition arrangements as necessary.
- All participants must comply with the rules set by the Academy. Any violation may result in disqualification.
- The Academy reserves the right to revise any published rules, details, or arrangements. All official updates will be posted on the Academy's Facebook page.
- All decisions made by the Academy are final and binding.
- The Academy reserves the right to alter any terms, awards, or judging arrangements without prior notice.
- Participants’ personal data will be used solely for competition-related purposes and will not be shared without consent.
- The Academy will handle all personal data in compliance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
- The Academy may use participants' scores and related data for educational, promotional, or research purposes.
- In the event of discrepancies between the English and Chinese versions of the Terms and Conditions, the Chinese version shall prevail. The Academy reserves the right of final interpretation.
